Climate change, water shortages, soil erosion, agricultural chemical run-off, extreme weather events; all of these are substantial challenges for agriculture, and therefore for food security in the developing world. In addition poor infrastructure and facilities can lead to large scale losses and waste in agriculture, further exacerbating these problems. Low paid agricultural jobs are also connected to the ongoing phenomenon of rural poverty in these countries.
Controlled Environment Vertical Farming offers tools to address these issues. For some countries, we may be able to work with you and the UK government to benefit from subsidies/grants.
Many areas of the world are now classified as water stressed. The V-Farm unit uses around 90% less water than conventional agriculture methods as it is a closed loop system with water recovery.
Because it is an entirely enclosed and controllable system, the V-Farm unit is not in any way affected by adverse weather. Production can continue 365 days of the year!
The V-Farm unit uses no soil, so there can be no soil degradation! fertiliser use is greatly reduced.
Because it is an entirely enclosed, no pesticides or fungicides are required at all. The controlled environment provides enhanced biosecurity. Should this be breached, all V-Farm systems can be quickly and easily stripped down and jet washed.
The V-Farm system allows you to grow food right where it is required. V-Farm can be deployed and installed quickly and can be connected or supplied with alternative ‘off grid’ energy solutions. Losses are greatly reduced by the controlled environment, and waste greatly reduced by proximity to consumption.
Vertical Farming offers opportunities for development of new high skilled job roads, and therefore the need to train for those positions. Due to its modular nature, and the variety of systems offered, V-Farm are ideally placed to support training programs, with a well established record of doing so in the UK already.
